Journey

Image
A Weekend Adventure I wanted to show the journey that I took when picking both of my horses up, we got to see some beautiful landscapes as well as wonderful sunsets and sunrises while driving. I also got to see a variety of weather patterns, from cloudy to rainy to clear sky, and I thought showing those differences and the differences in the landscape would show the time passing really well. I didn't do too much editing, wanted to keep the photos pretty simple and let the story tell itself, but I did go through on each photo and adjust the brightness, saturation, etc to make each photo pop.

I chose to base this assignment off of my favorite portrait of the dog, but I wanted the background to be different so I went through my other folders and found a background that wouldn't be too distracting but still add to the photo. At that point I thought it would look really cool if there was a picture of a tree/sunset within the window so I used one of the photos that I had taken earlier that week before I realized that I'd never submitted that photo as an assignment so I still needed another photo. I figured that including one of my self portrait photos standing behind the dog could look cool so I edited in one of the pictures with my silhouette before editing them all better so that they fit well together.

I started out by taking a picture of my cat stretching in the window and wanted to really draw attention to him so I figured a black and white photo would be the best way to edit it. However, I didn't love the fact that it turned out to be like a silhouette because he's an all black cat. So I wanted to see what would happen if I switched subjects and did a black and white photo of my dog Freyja in front of a different window. This still ended with my subject being too dark compared to the light outside so I tried bringing her into the sunroom so that I could get more light in front of her too. This worked but I still found the background to be too distracting. The issue that I had was that I was working with an animal so by this point she was bored and wanted to do something else so I let her. I switched subjects and brought my other dog into the sunroom to see if I could get a couple good pictures of her. I messed around with editing these, using tools like heal, clone, and cr...
